Trail conditions – June 2026

Welcome to the 2026 season at the Auberge de Salanfe!

Here is some useful information to help you prepare for your hike:

🟢 Access via the Vallon de Van is in excellent condition.

🟢 The Col du Jorat is also accessible and in good condition.

🟢 The Salanfe Lake circuit is fully passable and snow-free as well.

🟡 The Col de la Golette from La Creusaz is clear of snow! A few remaining snow patches still need to be crossed between the pass and the Auberge de Salanfe, but they do not present any particular difficulty.

🟡 The trail to the Col de Susanfe is now clearly visible and increasingly well used. On the Salanfe side, there are still about 45 minutes of uphill walking on snow and approximately 30 minutes of downhill walking on snow. Please make sure you are properly equipped, including lightweight crampons (microspikes) and hiking poles.

🔴 The Col d’Emaney is still heavily snow-covered and may be difficult to cross at this time. We recommend that hikers coming from Emosson avoid using the passes for now, or at least consider taking the Col de Fénestral, which is generally more accessible at this time of year. However, we have not received any recent information regarding its current condition.

As an alternative, we recommend a magnificent 2-day loop currently accessible 🥾:

Vernayaz – Gorges du Dailley – Salanfe on the way out, and Salanfe – Col de la Matze – Salvan – Gorges du Trient – Vernayaz on the way back.

📍 Return route: bit.ly/salanfe_vernayaz

This hike can be shortened by starting from Salvan, accessible by train from Martigny (Mont-Blanc Express).

And what about when you arrive?

🐐 The ibex are already here with their most magnificent horns.

🐾 the marmots have emerged from their slumber and are whistling louder than ever.
